Stay on top of timing chain and tensior changes in the rhino. Got mine for $250 because it hopped time and smoke the valves down

Also the headers seem to crack.

Rear diff mounts break

Rear break is a pain to work on

Make sure it has the recall spacers and should of gotten doors when it was done

They were carburetored

Also keep up with CVT roller lube

And pay attention to oil, clutch is wet

Stator tends to burn up if you add lights and radios.

Gets really hot on the center engine cover. Bed gets really hot too.

Sensitive to overheating.

Governed at 42mph

Can't help with the Polaris, don't know anything about it.

The 2006 Rhino our Search and Rescue unit uses has been trouble free. And I had a riding partner that had an older Rhino and really liked it. Used it for many years but recently traded it for a new Yamaha Wolverine.

Big fan of Yamaha, owned a Grizzley,Rhino, currently a Kodiak and Viking. My son has a Grizzley with 5K hard miles on it.
About trouble free on all,my son's had his CV joints go recently on his Grizzley(he used to use it like a tractor).I put about 1K per year on my machines.

I just bought a Yamaha viking vi ranch with the same engine that the rhino 700 has. Im happy with it and it hauls all my grandchildren and equipment around.
It had 19 hrs when I bought it, holds 6 people comfortably and lots of room

I bought a 2006 Kodiak new, still driving it today with over 9,000 miles on the odometer. Very dependable machine!

IF it was me, I'd grab the Yamaha too, the ones I've bought have been good to me.

I am intrigued by this machine. There is not much “real-world” information available. I have a 2015 mule pro fxt that is a beast. But, I just got a Yanmar tractor and wouldn’t mind upgrading the UTV. I have a steep drive, I just don’t want something that feels like it can’t get out of its own way.
