LS 4046H
I've had a thought cross my mind (I'm currently at work, nowhere near my tractor) and was looking for input. On the 4046H the left of the driver's seat is an empty spot for 2 levers (assuming either hydraulics or gears on other models). I was thinking (again, absolutely no research on this yet, not even measurements) that this would be a very convenient spot to put 2 a spool valve and reroute my T&T setup to here, freeing up my rear remotes for future use (ie, my front grapple that I've yet to buy)

So, my question(s) would be:
1. Can anyone tell me what the spot is used for normally?
2. Has anyone made use of this unused spot?
3. Would a 2 spool valve fit?

Thanks,

I have a XR4145HC so my answers may not be correct for the XR4046H, but from what I have seen they are pretty similar other than the engine.

One of the slots is for the gear shift on a geared tractor. Since you have the HST, it isn't there. The other one is likely for PTO gear which we are fixed at 540 RPM, so it also isn't in place. There may be yet a third area for a control that you don't have anything in and this may be for GSP (Ground Speed PTO) option. Finally, there may be a small circle that a lever goes in to engage the middle PTO if fitted.

This is all based on my XR4100 series manual, so your mileage may vary on the XR4046.

Just a thought, I was going to use the rear remote at first to operate my grapple. I got a third function valve with switch on the joy stick and boy I'm glad I did.

Was just thinking about this last weekend stacking logs and moving tops of cut trees. It is much better then reaching down somewhere to operate grapple jaws. One hand to do everything but if not cycling the grapple jaws frequently a remote type lever maybe ok

Just food for thought.

Thanks PC. That was one of my guesses for sure for the gear shift. I wish I could find the owner manuals on-line (I should probably just scan mine) so I can wonder these things at work without posting on here.

Yeah, using the rear remotes would be probably be a temporary short term fix until the finances were revived after buying a grapple.

The other perk of using a different value is that I could get one with float on one or both of the spools. To help in mowing/grading

3rd function w/ joystick is on my list, but after top/tilt for boxblade, and I may need a PHD too before I spend on the 3rd function.
