I was highly considering the XR4046 but the issues with the front seals and steering arm really have me concerned. Would any of you still consider the xr4046 given the issues you have had?

This is the first real issue I have had. Granted it only has 131 hrs. on it. Hopefully the repair will be eventless. So far nothing would change for me. I love the tractor and still think they are one of the best out there for the money.

I have had my xr4046h for a year now, 55 hours. It is a pleasure to use and has done everything I have tried to do with it. It is the most tractor for the money that I looked at. I broke the left steering arm for the second time a couple of weeks ago. The dealer talked with the regional rep and they are replacing the right side hub housing with a new one that is milled and tapped for steering stops. Factory setup only has stops on the left side which causes a lot of stress on the left side. They are confident this will fix the arm failure. Thanks John

I noticed mine only has the one stop. The other side has the area for one but is not tapped. I was wondering if I could drill and tap it myself. Didn't want to do anything to void warranty. Always thought there should be a stop there. Maybe if they replace my entire hub the new one will have the stop.

This is so strange ... I never had issues with my R4047, and I don't recall others having the issue either (with R series). I wonder what they changed with the new model ... Whole different part? Different supplier? Different worker at the plant?

Update: Picked tractor up from the dealer a few days ago. They had it about 5 days which I didn't think was too bad. The outer wheel bearing failed which caused the hub to crack around the edge and dump the oil. Dealer was not sure what caused the failure. Possibly just a bad bearing or he thought there may have been some type of foreign object from factory that got into the bearing. May not ever know for sure. They flushed out the hub and replaced the inner and outer bearings and hub. Filled it with oil and exercised it for a while then drained and flushed it out to make sure there wasn't anything left in the hub and refilled oil. Used it a couple hours today with no issues. Dealer said this is the first one they ever had any issues with the front end. I think they did a nice job on it so I'm back in business.
