I was moving gravel today and noticed the inside front right tire was wet with oil. Appears the seal let go and puked out all the oil. Going to the dealer Monday or Tuesday. I saw another thread where a 7010 had a wheel bearing go out and lost all the oil. Hopefully not a lot of down time.

Here's a pic. 130 hours. Good thing for warranty.

I had both of mine replaced a month ago, dealer said he didn't know what caused it, he went ahead and replaced bearings also.

Were both of yours leaking or one side and you had them both done? Mine was catastrophic failure. I'm going to talk to the dealer about the bearings and the other side.

Both of mine leak, but only a few small drops daily.

Dropped tractor off at dealer on Monday. Called yesterday and said the hub had a crack in it behind the wheel. He didn't tear it down until he hears back from his rep. He has a call in to see if they want him to replace the entire assembly. I told him that's what I would prefer. Don't know if a bearing failed causing the crack or what yet.

I drove my 4046 10 miles round trip on blacktop roads to a friends to borrow a post hole digger, and worried about the hubs the whole way after reading about everyone's problems. Knock on wood, no problems here yet.

I "roaded" mine a few times also. I was worried about the tie rod end (steering arm) on the hub breaking like several have posted. Never gave the internals a thought. Also thought about the top link every time I hit a bump when I had an implement on. I bought a 24' equipment trailer so no more road trips.

I was highly considering the XR4046 but the issues with the front seals and steering arm really have me concerned. Would any of you still consider the xr4046 given the issues you have had?

This is the first real issue I have had. Granted it only has 131 hrs. on it. Hopefully the repair will be eventless. So far nothing would change for me. I love the tractor and still think they are one of the best out there for the money.

I have had my xr4046h for a year now, 55 hours. It is a pleasure to use and has done everything I have tried to do with it. It is the most tractor for the money that I looked at. I broke the left steering arm for the second time a couple of weeks ago. The dealer talked with the regional rep and they are replacing the right side hub housing with a new one that is milled and tapped for steering stops. Factory setup only has stops on the left side which causes a lot of stress on the left side. They are confident this will fix the arm failure. Thanks John

I noticed mine only has the one stop. The other side has the area for one but is not tapped. I was wondering if I could drill and tap it myself. Didn't want to do anything to void warranty. Always thought there should be a stop there. Maybe if they replace my entire hub the new one will have the stop.

This is so strange ... I never had issues with my R4047, and I don't recall others having the issue either (with R series). I wonder what they changed with the new model ... Whole different part? Different supplier? Different worker at the plant?

Update: Picked tractor up from the dealer a few days ago. They had it about 5 days which I didn't think was too bad. The outer wheel bearing failed which caused the hub to crack around the edge and dump the oil. Dealer was not sure what caused the failure. Possibly just a bad bearing or he thought there may have been some type of foreign object from factory that got into the bearing. May not ever know for sure. They flushed out the hub and replaced the inner and outer bearings and hub. Filled it with oil and exercised it for a while then drained and flushed it out to make sure there wasn't anything left in the hub and refilled oil. Used it a couple hours today with no issues. Dealer said this is the first one they ever had any issues with the front end. I think they did a nice job on it so I'm back in business.
