It's a dumb question, I know, but I just got my first cab tractor. Does anyone here know about how long it takes to warm up enough to blow heat into the cab? I imagine the AC wouldn't take long, but I'm wondering about heat.

However long it takes for your engine temperature to come up! So it will depend on your current outside temperatures. I can usually take my jacket off after about 15-20 minutes at running 1700-2000 rpms.

Depends how cold it is. At 20f, I let mine fast idle at 1500 rpms for 10-15 minutes. At the end of that time the cab is starting to warm up. Once you put the tractor to work, it will be up to full temp in only a couple of minutes and be blowing hot air.
Don’t be in a rush to warm it up, the hydraulic oil will still be cold and the pump has to work extra hard to move the oil. Let it fast idle while you go have a cup of coffee or something.
My routine is to start the engine and let it run at slow idle for about 1 minute, then bump it up to 1500 RPM. While it’s running, I top off the fuel and lube it. It’s usually ready to go to work once that is done.

Thank you both. My biggest concern is having it warm enough to keep the glass clear while moving snow and bales. I do like the extra 15-min coffee break idea!

In my cab, the vents dont point at the doors. I had problems keeping them from fogging up. Doing this trick helps. It's quick and easy.

For me, I go out and start the tractor, let it idle at idle for about 10-20 seconds. Then bump it up to 1500rpm or so. Let it run for about 20-30 minutes. While it's doing that, I take the time to brush the snow off (if needed), go back inside and have a cup. When I come back out, the glass is defrosted, the cab is warm and I really dont need a jacket in there. About 10-15 minutes of working the tractor, the cab gets so warm that I need to take off my jacket and turn down the heat!

Great idea and tip! And something I think I can handle without a service call! But you did convince me that I don't want chains.

Chains are great! Stick like glue. But putting them on is a major PITA!

I have the bigger turf tires on mine. 44x18-20. No way I want to deal with chains.

If I need more winter traction, I will use studs. Kold Kutter Pro Series Seem to be well rated, and easy to install.

Mine about 20 minutes...basically when the needle comes off the stop for temp.
