I have followed the instruction for how to use the Engine Speed Control (Sect. 3-32 in my owners manual) and my tractor does not operate as stated in the manual. After pressing the (main) switch from the (Position 1- Ready), to (Position 2-Resume), the engine speed does change if the engines speed if its either lower or higher than the set speed for ESC control.

However, the ESC does not respond to input from the Engine Speed (up/down) switch?

The manual states Pressing (Which I interpret as Press & Hold? the front side of the switch, the engine speed shall be: Increased? However, doing that has no effect on engine speed?

So far, the only way I have found to change the Engine Speed Control set point, is by manually advancing the throttle handle to raise the engine RPM then while the ESC is in the (Position 1-Ready), then pressing and holding the switch in the (Position 2-Resume) for more than 2-Seconds as stated in the manual.

Another oddity is that it will not set at any speed above 1550 rpm? Can anyone tell me if I have missed a step or am I doing something wrong?

Mine is similar, but it works ok. It’s not a very elegant system. Once you get a couple of RPMs set, then it’s nice to resume to that exact RPM.
It doesn’t advance speed as fast as you think it would. It takes a few seconds for the instrument panel to register the change. Try repeatedly pressing the increase button and see if it increases.

Oh, and make sure your foot isn’t on the clutch or brake and the parking brake isn’t set.

Thank you for the Tip on holding down the set button longer. How do you set Multiple Engine Speed Set points? The manual does not say anything about how to use set point 1 and set point 2?

There are only two set points, 1 and 2. There should be a switch that selects between the two. You don’t have a picture of of that one. On your picture of the dash, the number 1/2 will be illuminated when either of them is selected showing which program you are using.

Once you have your two RPMs set, they will be remembered until you overwrite them. When you want to select program 1, turn the system on and the engine will jump up to the set RPM until you hit the clutch or brake or turn it off.

I use it when using a PTO implement like the tiller or mower rather than trying to move the hand throttle to exactly where I want it. The hand throttle usually stays at about 1200 RPM. Then I engage the PTO and once the engine stabilizes, hit my PTO program #1 and away I go.

I've never been able to get mine to work either. I am completely befuddled by this system.

If you aren’t using PTO implements, then you don’t really need it. It’s just a lot faster to hit the button than it is to bump the throttle up to your exact RPM without redlining the engine every time.
