My backhoe seems to have lost power. It just won't pop out roots like it used too. IS there a way to increase the pressure or increase the force before it bypasses?

Service manual states, IF owner operator suspects performance of backhoe has declined suspect Fluid level, fluid leak, fluid type and or change of specs, clogged filter and or wrong filter type which will restrict flow of system. Really only way for you to know for sure if the PTO pump is performing as it should would be to put in an inline gauge and run the pump to check its output. If not in between specs, correct all previous issues before suspect pump as the cause of problem.

In your case, it has decreased over time. Number one cause is typically wrong fluid, low fluid level or wrong or clogged filters.

I only use LS filters, even though they cost more. I know I will not have a micron filter that may restrict and cause problems down the road.

New fluid and filters. That was my first thought too so I replaced everything. I'm looking for the adjustment.

How does your backhoe hook up to the tractor? Does it have two hoses that connect to the remotes, or is it hooked straight to the power beyond?

You will need a gauge to check the pressure before adjusting any relief valves. It will only cost about 35 bucks. Cheap insurance to prevent damaging something really expensive.

You say you purchased new filters, were they LS filters or another brand? I really think if your backhoe had more power but not as much now you have another problem and adjusting the fluid pressures is not the answer. You could cause more harm than good. Of course if your tractor was low from factory, than it would of been a good time to make corrections. Years later and was working well for a long time and now just doesn't have the same power something is causing the condition.

But IF you are going to mess with the pressure settings you really should get the gauge and know the settings factory allows for the system. Good luck
