X585 EFI light coming intermittently

My 4 year old X585 with 120 hours on it has had no problems...till today. Part way through plowing some light snow, the engine started to bog down a bit, and the EFI light started to flash on every 2-3 seconds for about 2 second each time. I shut down, let the engine cool etc., and restarted, to find the same problem.

I have never changed the fuel filter...manual says 1050 hours. I last checked the plugs in October, and they were fine.

Thoughts as to what I should do next....change the fuel filter, plugs, ???

I am not familiar with you machine...but at 120hrs and 4 years I would say you are at least due for a fuel filter, 1050 hours is a long time especially if you picked up some bad fuel recently.

My X585SE used to do it every winter when plowing snow. I had it to the dealer twice and they replacded the EFI light and it still did it. I think what was happening was the air filter was getting frozen with snow. I would still replace the fuel filter. slkpk

I am also having this issue, I get two long flashes followed by two short flashes which I am told is an EFI/Fuel pressure problem although the engine seems to run fine. This happened as I was plowing and Deere service said it should clear after restarting the engine but mine does not.
I don't know if I should continue to ignore the warning light or if it's worth taking it to a dealer just to reset the light. The dealer said I wouldn't hurt the engine if I used it while the light was flashing.

here's a response from JD, but there is a serial number
qualifier on the top of the page. When mine does it,
if I shut down, wait a few seconds, then restart
(always wait for a second or 2 for the fuel system
to prime) it goes away.

Thanks for the attachment Dutch, that seemed different than I had been told by the Deere dealer. I'll probably wait until the next time I need to take it in for something else. After all, I'm in the northeast and we just got another 18" of snow to clear.

We are stuck in a terrible pattern for snow,
cold yes, but not a lot of snow except for what
we can rob off lake ontario. storm after storm
has gone to the coast, of which we haven't received
anything but the cold after it moves off.
