I have a couple of questions about the 3pt kit for the X575 that I can't seem to uncover answers for by searching the net or this forum. Would appreciate any feedback.

1. Is it hydraulically operated? If so, are the cylinder/hoses already on the tractor since it has the mid-pto and 62" mmm?

2. If not, what has to be installed to actuate it?

3. Is the kit difficult to install for a reasonably competent amateur mechanic?

4. Local dealer quoted apparent list price of approx. $550. Does anyone know of a discount, internet source for the kit? Or used ones?

5. Are there any aftermarket kits that are worth looking at? I already saw the Redlandhill.com one, they weren't sure it would fit and it's as much or more than the OEM kit.

6. I understand the lift capacity to be approx. 450#.

7. Tractor currently has the 519 collection cart attached to rear and I have a couple other attachments that use the same hitch. Will the 3pt kit preclude using them or require some sort of adaptation?

Thanks again for all your help.

The three point is hydraulic. It moves up and down with the mower unless you have the bypass valve installed. $550 is about the going rate. You might could save some green doing it yourself but it is not an easy job, so go pro on this one. You would have to run a drawbar extension to pull, or you could have one fabricated for the three point itself. Also remember you can put an I match hitch on the three point for that tractor. This lets you use some of the "L" series Frontier implements. It will lift about what you say. It easily handled a 300# rear box blade, but front ballast was definitely needed to hold the front end down with that BB when the terrain was hilly.

Sorry, should have said X585, gas motor, 4wd. Thanks for all the info, that really helps.

Robert, I am going to respectfully disagree with a previous poster (I own a 455 which has exactly the same setup as your tractor and I installed the 3 point myself) on two points:

1) the three point kit is quite easy to install - there are a lot of parts so it takes a while, but it is no big deal at all.

2) the three-point always moves up and down with the deck - they both run off the rockshaft. Deck and 3 point have independent downstops, so you can lock one up while you use the other one. The bypass valve bypasses the rockshaft hydraulics completely, thus keeping both the deck and 3 point from moving.

I run a 519 too - you have to take the lower hitch arms off, and I think I had to use a different bolt to fit the 519 attachment plate, but it was pretty easy. So you may have to rig something up, but I think you'd be fine.

Regarding Deere vs. aftermarket, I did read one article where someone had problems with the redland hill unit, but I have had no experience myself. If I were to do it over again, I would get a Cat 1 hitch from Ruegg Fabrications - they sell quite a bit on eBay. Apparently their instructions leave a lot to be desired, but the product is great. Go over to the forums at weekendfreedommachines.com and search for "Ruegg" and you'll get a lot of good info.
