X500 smoke?

One other question on the X series tractors. Yesterday I was at the JD dealer and when starting up the X500 and X540, blue smoke came out of the exaust for a second or two. Is this normal on brand new engines?

Sounds like they may have been fogged down before shipping, and you just burned the oil out. I'm surprised the dealer had not had them running before that, though.

A blip of smoke is normal until the engine gets broke in. The blip gets worse if the machine was pointed down hill at all. Once it is broke in you usually don't see it.

I have the X540 and I still get the smoke when starting if you hold the choke to long. It's a gas motor w/ 25hrs.
