x500 series

Does anyone own an X500 series garden tractor? If so, how is it on hills, rate of cut, etc.? Trying to figure whether to buy one or a Zero Turn. Not overly impressed with the JD dealer here. He didn't want to talk to be about a GT and only had X300 series. He immediately steered be to a ZTR.

Just got mine 5 days ago so not a lot of experience. But, I will say traveling across the side of a hill with it has much less a pucker factor than 1993 320 it replaced. Notice in the pic I have the turfs not the HDAPs. It mows really nice and even. I installed my old JERCO hitch from the 320 so I could continue towing the log splitter. The x500 easily pulled the 475 lb splitter up a 100 ft long, 20% (approx 12 degrees) grade without using the diff-lock. Going down the same grade, the tractor controlled the descent with the transaxle, no brakes needed.

I have a X540. I mow over an acre of hillside. I have found it very stable. The differential lock and power steering are very nice features.

Ask to try the mowers out. If not on your lawn, see if the dealer will let you mow his.

I have had my x534 for two full seasons and going on the third now. Its been great summer and winter. No hills to deal with for me so can't comment on that.

Had a x540. Great on hills. Fast. Powerful. Best cut ive ever seen on a mower. No complaints.
