Well, I guess I hit one too many stumps and my deck is unrepairably bent. The John Deere shop fixed the deck once, but I hit another stump and they say it's too far gone with bent spindles and such.

Mowing with it, as is, leaves a bit of an uneven path.... and there is a regular beat of "klinkity" every 5 seconds with the blades going.

So, the shop says $1,600 to fully replace the deck....and that's if I downgrade to the 48" deck! (it is currently a 54") The size doesn't matter to me, but that price is nearly half the cost of the whole mower!!!

Online, I can find no links for the purchase of a mower deck for this x320. I can find parts, but not the entire enchilada.

Any suggestions?...or do I bite the bullet?

Thanks
Kelton

P.S. Those low stumps are a beast!

Well the stamped decks on a BX are about $2000. $1600 for the x320 sounds plausible. Id look around all the local mower shops and see if you could find a decent used one.

The Deere build it now web site says for the 54" Deck:

54 in. Edge Xtra Deck (54X) (For X320, X500, X530, X534, and X540 Tractors) $1,300,

And the

48 in. Edge Xtra Deck with Rotateable Anti-Scalp Wheels (48X) (For X300, X320) $1,000,

I'd contact Mutton Power, they always better prices on JD items, no sales tax, and most items have, free shipping,

You would be just throwing good money after bad. Use that money to buy a new mower. Trade in or sell the old one.

If you buy a new mower your just going to hit the stumps again I would imagine. I would say ask for 10 percent off and all they have to do is put it in your truck or on a trailer and you will do the rest. Then pay to either remove the stumps or get some flags. Buying a new mower and ruining that deck as well isn't going to help you fix the problem.

Yep, get rid of the stumps and get rid of the problem not a symptom of the problem. Rotary type mowers and stumps/rocks etc just don't mix.

I agree with that. I recently replaced the baffles in a 60" 755 deck that had been abused with a terribly rough yard.
Dig the rocks up, have the stumps ground and fill any holes with good dirt, before you buy a new mower.
Otherwise use that mower or something cheap you do not care to tear up.

Replacement spindles are not that expensive, and the deck mount points can usually be hammered back into shape. I'd be curious what is so bad that they want to sell you a new deck.
