I was looking through ritchie bros archives at welders, and I saw that someone bought a lincoln idealarc 350 amp power supply without cables, FOR $15, why cant I ever find deals like that.....

I am sure it was, over 300 amp power supplies are always 3 phase. What was strange is that other big 3 phase power supplies always sold for at least $300.

I attend almost every RB auction in my area. I always check out the area where the welders and misc. stuff is. I have looked at a lot of the welders and probably wouldn't have brought half of them home if given to me. There is no way to test them. What you see is what you get. Most of these welders have led a rough life. Also at the auction these welders are out side in the rain and snow uncovered.

I'm a RB addict as well. Most of the stuff around here is usually sold by rental places. You know it has been abused by at least some of the renters.

The welders and generators are being sold for a reason. If it was in great shape the rental agency would still be renting it out. You have to figure a "repair cost" for any RB bid.

Yeah, i have been to a few RB auctions myself, always :drool: over the equipment but you cant really test anything. The big wheel loaders can only be moved maybe 10' and you cant move them over at all, they pack everything in the yard so tight. But I have also seen some great deals go out of there, and also some bad ones, and even machines that will stop running up on the block. :laughing:

There wasnt really much to go wrong with this machine, basicaly a giant ac dc tombstone. I know you cant test things like that, but $15, man, just the copper in it is worth a few hundred $.

Just the welding leads are probably worth that.
