Would you pay 3800 Dollar for 1050 with 30 day war

Well i did. In the UK a 1050 as a grey import will set you back 3800USD if you can find oine and I got a 30 day warranty. To buy a 50 inch cut 23hp with a 1 year warranty from a UK cub dealer will set you back almost 6000 dollars. The guy i bought my grey import has stopped so i guess Barrus the official UK importer has stopped him. So the next time you are feeling hard done by at 1,500 dollar with a 3yr warranty think of those worse off!
I was drawn to the Cub by the reputation of Cub and Kohler. Now i find from reading these boards that my Kohler isnt the same engine as the Kohler reputation was built on and my Cub isnt the same as the Cub reputation was built on. In spite of this i'm still pleased with my purchase - it might be no better built than the 15 year old Lawnflite it replaced but its still good value to me even at 3800 dollar -(unless something desperate goes wrong with it).. Because foreign countries tax the HE!! out of US goods shipped over there. Foreign governments get their share of the pie and protect their own country's businesses.

Here in the US, we allow cheap imports for the "good" of the consumer and our economy. The US doesn't protect their own industry.

It is called "free" trade. They send us their goods at prices lower than prices of our own goods, while our goods overseas can't compete because they are taxed into oblivion by the foreign govts.

A typical UK manufacturer is Countax. A 50 inch Countax with hydro transmission and 20HP honda engine is well over 7000 dollars even at a discount seller. My Cub at 3800 dollar is a real bargain here - which is why the official importers guard there market.
To the poster who said it was taxes this is incorrect. Import tax on a garden tractor is 15% then you have to add VAT but the UK maker has VAT added as well. Garden tractors are just WAY more expensive here.
