Well, I have to replace at least the pressure plate on my S650G. I was working on it last night disconnecting stuff to get ready to split it and noticed that it looks like you could just pull the engine and not actually split the tractor. Has anyone tried this? Is there a reason it couldn't be done this way? Seems like it would be easier than splitting the tractor and having to line up the 2 halves when putting it back together.

Well, it turns out that there is a reason this can't be done. The frame has a cross member that is about a 1/3 of the flywheel too big to let the engine come out. However, the tractor is lite enough that splitting it wasn't that bad. Have it back together and hopefully tonight I will have all the parts I had to take off back on and we'll see if I did it right.

I'm going to have to do one of mine sooner or later (gray beaver) It has to be split too.

It works! I used a heavy duty engine hoist on one end and a floor jack/jack stand combo on the other and it wasn't too hard. It even still had the box blade on the 3 pnt. (put the stands under the blade and the jack under the trans) I would imagine that since the Beaver is smaller that it would be even easier as far as actually handling half the tractor. Hope it goes well.
