L4600, HST, 4x4. Is there a good 3 pt wood-splitter for my L4600 on the market? Got plenty of wood but no splitter.

Thanks Mike

My sincere advice is to look into a stand-alone splitter. Tractor Supply has a decent selection. Also, check CL.

We have the Northern Tools 3 point splitter and it works well on our Kubota B2710. It has both Cat 1 and Cat 2 pins.

I heard there were some 3 pt splitters that didn't come with the correct valving for the hydraulics. Looked at some at TSC as well as Split Fire. Split-Fire seems to be a quality unit so I will check their prices on Monday. Is there any chance any of these units can damage my hydraulic system on the Kubota? I can just bag it and get a self powered Honda powered system if needs be. I just don't have a machinery shed up and sheathed yet so space is an issue. I have a diesel tank on the place and use that as my primary fuel...so I haven't seen any self powered splitters that run on diesel ...thus the added interest in 3 PT.

Most people seem to prefer stand alones, but you hit on the reasons I bought a 3 point - doesn't take up much storage space and I'd rather listen to the diesel hum along instead of one of the yammering little gas engines. You shouldn't have any hydraulics problems as long as the unit is matched to your system - open center or closed center. I would guess your Kubota is an open center system as most smaller tractors are and I think almost all 3 point splitters are supplied that way. My Northern Tool splitter came as an open center system, but I believe there were instructions on how to convert the valve for a closed center system.
