Woods XT172 rotary cutter
72" rotary cutter
Slip Clutch
1/8" 11ga steel deck wich is the same as the MX series from JD.
Not sure if it has the stump jumper or not.
Not sure if it will work with my Quick Hitch or not.
Does not seem to have any chains on it. Looks like rear is solid steel.
Used 5 times or so so in great shape. Made in about 2000 or 2001.
Asking price is $750

What do people think of this price for the cutter vs. its value.

Will be used with a JD 3320.

Anyone own this model or ever used this model?
Any problems?

I never used it.. but woods is a great name.. and that is a 'KK' price.. so.. I figure you got a good deal.

Unless it was used to mow a steelyard or rock quarry 5 times you'll get lots of use out of that rig. Check gearbox oil for clean, underneath for leaks and blade condition, etc. You're saving several hundred off new, just be sure it won't cost you anything make it excellent. It's a good buy, I'd say.

Test it before buying. The inside of the gearbox could be a solid chunk of rusted metal. If you do buy it, definitely change the gearbox oil once you get home. Also assume spending $60-90 on new blades and bolts within the first year when you negotiate the price.

I am a picky patient consumer.

Went and looked at it closer today and it does not have any kind of stump jumper installed but the blades look OK. Still torn - Really wanting the green MX that works with Imatch off of the crate.

Time to go mow the pond sides with the PowerMax. I will consider it more while I mow.

The lack of a stump jumper is not the end of the world.

Though i prefer a stump jumper.. i did purchase a flexwing mower ( for a good price ) that did not have them. It was a tough decision.. but I did it. I generally only mow 'known' areas anyway.. so my smaller 3pt mower that has a stump jumper should have found the big obstacles by now anyway..

good luck! and post back and include pics if you get it.

Not familiar with the XT series. I have the BB72, which is the "light" version, if you can call 700# light. It also has a clip clutch and 11ga deck. I've had it for 3 years, and found nothing wanting. Mine has a stump jumper, but I don't need it. At that price, I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan on mowing unfamiliar fields. That's not advisable anyway unless you do it for a living.

I haven't seen anything yet that's not green that fits a JD quick hitch. Be sure to try it first.

That particular model of Woods mower has an "add on" stump jumper that suprisingly enough, isn't all that expensive. (I installed one for a neighbor) Seems like it was less than $100, about 2 years back. I was a bit skeptical when i first heard of an "add on stumpjumper", but was pleased to find it (A.) fit well, (B) looked well made, (C) was well attached and didn't appear to be a dangerous addition. For a light duty mower that isn't intended to be cutting down 4" trees, it may well not even NEED a stumpjumper.

So I measued it up and it is may well fit Imatch perfectly. I may take mine off and check it out just to make sure. 26" wide and 15" tall.

Farmwithjunk, does your neighbor like his???

Last time I spoke with him, he still had it and still used it. This guy would have tossed it a long time ago, had he NOT liked it. (Neighbor where we moved from last year. No longer see him on a regular basis)
