I've narrowed my search for a new finish mower to either a Woods TKP72.40 or a LandPride FDR1672. The Woods is ~$1000 more, weighs ~ 70 lbs more, and has slightly wider gauge wheels (4" vs 3.25"). Otherwise, they appear pretty much the same, the LandPride seems to be the no-brainer choice, is there something I'm missing that tips the scales to the Woods?

Do they have the same warrantee? Do they both have solid tires that will not get flats? Do they both have slip clutches?

I have Landpride. I think that there isn't going to be much difference between the different brands for the same size cutter, with the same HP ratings. The extra weight makes me think the Woods is going to be stronger, but I don't know how important that is with a finish mower.

Landpride is super easy to get parts for. Their website has diagrams for all their mowers, so you can look up what you need, and order it online. I use Messicks, they are fast, their prices are good, and I never have to leave my house. You can also go to any Kubota Dealer for Landpride parts, but they order them too, so there really isn't any advantage to going to a Dealer to buy parts unless you want them to do the work for you. The one time I went to Kubota to buy a part that I assumed they would have in stock, it was priced almost double what I ended up paying for it from Messicks.

Woods is such a big name, I'm gonna guess that getting parts shouldn't be an issue. But since you have a Massey, you already know that some Brands make it very hard to get parts online. That's the one thing that I don't like about my Massey. I can only get parts through the Dealer.

I have the FDR1672. It's been a great mower.

I recently bought a Farm King 655, a heavy duty 6' rear finish mower. I'm quite happy. $1000 cheaper than the lighter duty Woods. The Farm King has a bigger gear box and is significantly heavier. So far I've mowed over 50 acres, no regrets, I'd buy it again.

I had a LandPride 2572 that served me well over the years I owned it. I got a fine cut Mott flail thinking it would be/do what I wanted and sold the LandPride to my neighbor. BIG MISTAKE. Trying EVERYTHING I could, the flail just will not give the nice finish cut that a finish mower will, so I went on the hunt for anothers. Finally found a Woods RD8400 in very good condition and after putting on some new blades the cut is comparable to the cut from my ZT. Something the LandPride could not match, not sure exactly what the difference in cut is. After all it is just cut grass but there is a little something that catches my eye.

Both mowers are good but IMHO the Woods is just a bit higher quality and in the cut of the grass. I am sure you will be happy with either brand.

Land Pride and Woods are both well established, quality brands. Between the two I would gravitate towards the Land Pride only because I have had good service from several of their implements.

I vote for woods. I’ve owned this 25 years and no problems and the cut is spectacular. Have fun with whatever you choose sir

IF there is a difference in the thickness of the blades, I would go with the thicker one.
I have had really good service from both of my Woods 6' finish mowers.
One of them probably older then you are. Parts..no problem.

Cut quality entirely depends on blade tip speed and if the blades are sharp as well.
