Woods rm360

I am looking at getting a finish mower for my yanmar 165D. I had one picked out, then I learned it was almost $800 to ship it, so that's a no go. Then, I found a used Woods RM360 about 10 miles from me. I was going to do a 60" mower max, but what are your thoughts about this RM360 at 72".....too big for my tractor? Thanks

A 60" mower is too big and too heavy for your YM165D.
It will handle a 48" just fine and will even run the 54".

I use a Frontier 1060R made by Woods. With new high lift blades it works really well. Been using it for Yrs. 2008 for weekly cutting. 1' mower size to 4HP. PTO. or 5 Eng. Hp. is a good rule of thumb. Hoye! I don't think I would care to have a bigger mower. Runs 2G. Eng. RPMs. really smooth and fuel efficient all day long! The FM. cut is wider than my wheels so I don't leave any tracks. Org. Bridgestone.

I think the online listing was wrong as it said it was 72". Looking online, I only see that that model is 60".

Nevermind, looking at it in person it is an RM306 not RM360 as advertised, so it is a 72" and it is way too big

FWIW. Woods Manual list the Mowers specs.
GM 1060 611 Lbs. GM1072 678Lbs. GM1084 774 Lbs.
Tractor Data lists the 165D
Wheel base 48"
Weight 1109Lbs. 2WD. 1230Lbs. 4WD.
A 5' mower would weight half as much as the tractor. Your most likely have to add front Ballast. I had to add Front weight to the YM2000.
Tractor Data lists it 2wd.1664Lbs. 1940Lbs. 4wd.

Front weight won't be a problem. No FEL. On the YM2000 Had one on the JD. And The ford has FEL. Don't care to mow with one up there. The 5103 Was nice QA!! Don't have much involved to remove the attachment. Or even get out of the operator seat to do it. Just don't set the pins. The bucket stayed off the JD. INKY. stayed in a building not attached. The Grandson took the Pool fence out with It.

The old International BH. 7-800 Lbs. easy. You have to keep the BH. rear wheel ground with the YM2000.

Even my YM2610 did alright with the JD261 3-point finish mower. It could do a 72, but the way you need to swing around at the end of a cut, the 60 is by far the better unit.

I got the JD261 as a gift, but after years of ownership, I knew why. It ate belts, tension spring and pulleys often. Basically, Deere took a Fairway mower deck and made it into a 3-point type. Good for their marketing, bad for 3-point ownership.
