I'm thinking about purchasing a Woods HBL84-2 rear blade and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. It's rated for up to 75 hp, mine's 48. It's also rated for Cat. 1 & 2, so I'm thinking that it should hold up pretty well.

Any thoughts/experiences?

It would definitely hold up well, but it seems like a little much for that tractor. I have a 5105 and I'm looking at the exact same blade and thinking it might be bigger than I want. Do you not want a 72" wide box?

An 84" rear blade....to much for a 4320.....really? You mentioned box in the last line of your post, I would definitely get a 72" box blade, but angled, a rear blade the same size would cover my tracks.

Our tractors are roughly the same size and it has no problem pulling my HBL96-2. I've used it on heavy red clay soil and rocky sandy-loam with good results.

My mistake, I was thinking their 84" medium duty box blade.

You should have no problem whatsoever with an 84" angle blade. And a 96" should be fine too if you decide you want that. I have an 84" medium duty angle blade on my 5105 and it barely covers the tracks at a mild angle setting, and doesn't at a steep angle setting. My 5105 is about 72" wide; I can't remember how wide a 4320 is but I think it's about the same.

FWIW, I have the Frontier blade, and if I did it over again I would buy the Woods medium duty. Enjoy!

I have this exact blade and I run it on my Kubota 4330 (43 hp). The tractor handles it with no problem at all even though it's real big and super-duper heavy duty. It is really way more heavy duty than I really need. I love Woods implements and I bought this model because I will add the hydraulic adjustment cylinders at some point though I haven't yet. If they had a medium duty with the hydraulic pivot and angle option it would have suited me just fine.

I mostly use it for plowing snow but it's heavy enough to do some effective grading work too. As others have mentioned, you don't want to get anything less than 84" if you're covering a 6' track.

Good luck and let us know what you go with.

I ended up purchasing the Woods HBL84-2 a week ago and have only gotten the chance to use it once, but so far I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. I paid about $850 for a leftover, which I thought was pretty good because a new one runs about $200 more. Woods actually states that the blade can be used on up to 75 hp tractors. The blade is built incredibly well and my tractor is only 48 hp, so I doubt that I'll ever be able to break it. The tilt feature is really nice. It makes it very easy to crown a road or pull a ditch. I don't really see using the offset feature much. There are also mounts on the blade to make it offset hydraulically, but I don't think that I'll ever use them. A way to angle is hydraulically would be much more useful. That would have to be my only complaint about the blade. I wish that it was set up with hydraulic cylinder mounts to make it angle hydraulically.

I'll see if I can get some pictures.

I bought one 2 days ago...pd 1450 for it used it 5 minutes and broke the retainer plate out of it...stripped the bolts completely out it. Needless to say very pissed

What was the outcome with your blade? i.e. Woods or your dealer

I modified my blade to have hydraulic angle.
