Hi All

Toronto/Canada here ...

First post, although I've enjoyed a lot of reading/research ...

I'm thinking of getting a Woods BH90x Backhoe for a TN75DA ... don't actually own it yet, but take possession of farm and tractor on May 1 ... anybody familiar with the combination, and the price I should pay for a new or used Woods 90 (I can't actually find any used ones) ...

Thanks folks!

I have a 3 pt hitch Woods 1050 on my TN75DA and it works great. The attachment is much stronger than typical 3 pt hitch and since the tractor is so much stronger construction that a compact my dealer who is very conservatinve in these things had no problem putting the 1050 on mine. The one you're looking at is a little small for a TN size tractor.

Try looking on Ebay, Craigslist and Kijiji. But be very cautious in your decision making. There are some really good deals and some not so good ones. The
Woods 1050's seem to go for less than the 90's and they seem to be fairly plentiful. I shopped for a long time before buying one on Ebay that the seller would have allowed me to pass on had it not met with my approval. There are a lot of decent folks out there as well as a few snakes so be careful.

Take a look at what is available in MI since you are only four hours away from the border. Their economy is not good and there are good deals to be had for equipment. If you google craigslist woods you will get a lot of hits with very little searching, same for ebay and Kijiji.

Dang Andy ... a fantasy upgrade from a Woods 90x to a 1050 before I've even hit the showroom or the used market!

So your view is that the 3-point will work fine; no need for a 4-point and subframe?

How's the cost differential?

And now that we're fantasizing, should I be poring over Bradco 511 or 611 centerfolds?

It's so easy to spend money in a forum, but harder to find and dig up than French truffles!

Sorry, no pics ... I don't own anything yet ...

Thanks Maple

I'll give those auction sites a go ...

Woods makes a huge deal out of the curved boom on the 70, 80, 90 ... so how come the 1050 boom is about as unsexy as, say, Celine Dion? If the curve thing is so useful(?), where'd it go?

The 1050 is an older design. It works just fine inmy opinion. I've had 4 hoes and it is by far the best. Bradco also makes a good hoe for the TN.
Here is a picture of the 1050. I paid $9500 in 2002 with 2 buckets and a pto pump. Second picture shows mounting details.

I have a BH90x on my NH TC55DA .....It works great!!! In my opinion I wouldn't own a 3pt backhoe unless I could buy one extremely cheap......Why take the risk or buy one if you have to pay as much??? Mine takes maybe 5-8 minutes less to hook/unhook. On the TN75 you might need a bigger hoe, not sure, I haven't used that tractor, but it jerks mine around real good. I paid close to 10K for mine abt a 1 1/2 yrs. I'm sure there's others out there that are good but I can say I love mine......and when i'm not using it, the curved boom sure looks hot sittin in my garage..... :)

I'm not quesing that the BH90 is a good hoe. I have both a TN and a 2120 (shares frame is is exactly same size as TC55). I ran a subframe backhoe on teh 2120 for about 16 years. The 2120 is no where near the size of the TN and the TN's 3 pt hitch mount combined with the very thick rigid 3 pt hitch of the 1050 makes an excellent mount without sacrificing the ground clearance that the permanently mounted subframe mounts take up on the TN's. BTW I would not run a non subframe on a TC55 or anything smaller. LarryRB has used hoes for eyars and has seen my 1050 many times. Perhaps he'll offer his opinion.
