Tractor
Kubota L3130HST w/LA723 loader
I have the opportunity to pick up a new BH6000 at a good price. I know that it is intended for smaller tractors but it is a good size for my intended uses. Has anyone used this combination and/or does anyone have any advice on how to setup the installation.

I don't have the answer yet but I expect to not find a subframe mount. I know all the arguements but I am OK with a 3pt mount utilizing the tractor hydraulics.

Comments anyone?

You can check here to see if a subframe is available.

Woods Equipment Company - Manuals

They make a three point kit for it, as well as a mechanical thumb. Its a nice little backhoe. If you don't have one already, just run a power beyond loop from your loader valve to the back of the tractor. If it were me, i'd think about buying a subframe kit for the BH70 (assuming there is no subframe for the BH6000) and modify the backhoe end of it so the 6000 will bolt up to it.

It is a nice backhoe, but it won't dig hardpan well because of the hydro pressure limits. Your tractor is capable of running a much stronger bh. I don't know the answer to this, but could the higher hydro pressure from your tractor be too much for the cylinders on this little bh to take? Don't want to blow any cylinders from hydro pressure being more than they can take.

If that turns out not to be a problem, I still worry about the 3ph. Rather than modify the rear of the bh, I'd think about buying a subframe that is for the L3130 and modify the back end of it to match the backhoe, rather than modifying the back end of the backhoe.

All in all, I don't think I'd try this. Mate a j@ck@$$ to a mare and you can get a mule. Mate a stallion to a jenney and you might get a hinny, but more likely, you get nothing at all. Sometimes you mis-mate things and you get something out of it. Other times you just don't. The question is, is it worth the risk (in $) to find out?

Well this is all moot. The seller is reneging on the price originally quoted and it was even painted Kubota Orange.

What kind of price were you getting on it?

A friend had called me about an ad in Craig' List and gave me the phone number. I did not see the original ad. About 10 days after the ad was published I had a chance to call and the owner (not a dealer) quoted $2500 saying that would be the reserve if he took it to auction. He was out of town at the time and when he got back he checked and found that he had advertised the unit for $3500, when we talked he upped the price to $3000. This was a new unit on the pallet but no warranty.

We don't do business that way in Texas, His original word was $2500 and that is usually taken as binding. I would have to purchase the 3pt bracket and the hydraulic package plus install a power beyond loop on my tractor. I was able to budget $3000 + a little more for the job but not $500 in addition.

He was to take it to auction today so I wished him good luck and to call me if he wanted to deal at $2500.

Even at $2500, I don't think you'd be too happy with that little backhoe on that big machine of yours. You'd use up half the backhoe's reach just getting the bucket to the ground surface. :D

No way I'd ever go smaller than my BH75 on my B3030, and your tractor is quite a bit bigger than mine. You can put a BH75 on your machine, so keep looking for a used BH75 or a Woods BH70 or BH80 (though I still think even the BH70 is too small for your machine).

I did use a BX22 for a couple of years, and like my BH75 much, much better.

The backhoe owner called me back this week - apparently it did not sell at auction. I passed. It was going to cost me an additional $1500 to install it with a 3pt mount.

I have had two Kubota dealers say that a BH75 cannot be mounted on a GL30 series. I had thought about getting that BH.

I have decided that this project will have to wait. I need to replace the HVAC system in this place. Will go with an air source heat pump - we won't live long enough for a ground source unit to pay out.

$1500! The 3pt kit for those is only a few hundred bucks.

No reason it won't work, but its a toy compared to what the rest of your tractor can do.

I was pricing in the mount kit, the hydraulic kit, the woods top link bracket for the GL30 series, shipping, and the mods to my tractor plus a small allowance for contingencies. Also possibly some hired help might be necessary.
