Woods 60" BrushBull

I'd like to have an extra set of blades to interchange on my Woods BrushHog. These blades are torqued to 450 ft/lbs.

Has anyone done this without an impact gun? Is a 3/4 drive Breaker bar with a long pipe required? Any advice?

I have a BB600 ..... all I use is a 3/4" breaker bar .... and when I retorque it ---I torque it down to a grunt and a half.....(no wrench) ...I've changed my blades out twice. Once cause there was a recall on 'em so I got 'em free..... but being the cheap skate that I am - I saved 'em -- and put 'em back on one time when I was cutting in an area where I thought I might do some damage to the blades and figured better to ruin those than the good ones. ....Just to be sure we're on the same page here -- we're talking about the keeper bolt that holds the wedge on the top of the stump jumper that holds the big pin that goes through the blade....right?

Mine sounds like it be different than mikim's and more like BlacknTan's.
The blades are bolted to the stumpjumper with large 1"+ bolts with a key to keep them from spinning. I ended up buying a 500ftlb impact to take them on and off. I didn't know how I was going to keep the whole assembly from spinning if I used a long bar with a socket.

They may have changed since I bought mine in '03. If you have a compressor, Lowes has a 1/2" 500ftlb impact for around $70. A 1/2" x 3/4" adapter and the right socket and you all set. The compressor is key. It needn't be expensive but, it'll need a good sized tank to have enough reserve. The cheaper it is, the longer it'll run between full pressure shut off. One with an oil splash pump should last longer.
