Snowblower woods 3pt snowblower design flaw???

Perhaps the type of snowblower design has something to do with this. These Woods units are the typical 2-stage layout. Perhaps the numbers must change for single stage or other design types.

The physics doesn't change. The reason that two-stage units tend to throw further is due to the higher discharge velocity. To get the get the same discharge velocities for the same size unit, the auger on a single-stage unit would have to turn as fast as the impeller on a two-stage unit. This could result in considerable vibration. The augers on most two-stage units turn at a fraction of the speed of the impeller - on my machine the ratio is one revolution of the auger to four revolutions of the impeller.
