After due consideration, we purchased an MF 1726 a couple months ago (thanks for your input on my past threads). My dealer will be delivering the appropriate Woodmaxx backhoe next week, the one he suggested for this tractor. This is a three-point BH, and in reading the manual is says this is a no-no. ?? I understand that a frame-mounted BH is the way to go, but it seems to be a bit late for that. We will be working in sandy soils, without any large rocks, digging trenches for water and power lines and maybe burying a couple of 1700 gallon water tanks. Also some drainage ditches along our dirt driveway. I am now concerned about the three-point system BH... how leery should I be in using the BH for the above tasks? Just take it easy and don't stress the machine?
Thanks-- D.

Wow, that's a tough call ... it's a very, very, VERY expensive mistake if it tears the tractor in half. If you absolutely can't arrange anything to change the order to a full frame then maybe someone has a solution for modifications to add some kind of semi-full frame support structure. Problem with going easy is .... the point at which you realize it wasn't easy enough is when you are only sitting on half the tractor.

Hindsight....always gets the best of us. I'd try to back out of the backhoe purchase if possible. Some will say they run theirs just fine, and have done so for years. For me, the risk is too great. I'll rent if I need a backhoe before I'd put a three point hitch mounted one on my tractor.

States very clearly in the owner's manual that 3 point mounted backhoe will void your warranty. Will your dealer cover that?

The BH has been delivered and attached, it's a 6600 and not very huge or powerful. With the work I have lined up, in the soils we are dealing with, I think it will work out, and I'll just keep cool and careful. The dealer again told me he's sold many of these without undo problems, as long as you keep aware of what you are dealing with. I've read both positive and negative reports of like BHs on similar sized machines, and the bottom line seems to be think about what you are doing, keep your eyes open, and if you might run into issues, call in the big boys and park your tractor for a while. Thanks for the replies, and although not particularly reassuring, they will serve to make me that much more careful.

Make sure you have the stabilizer links that prevent the 3pt from moving up. Otherwise you could push up the operator platform and get hurt.

Good luck!
You may need it.

Did the dealer specifically state, and put in writing that they will cover any warranty issues declined by AgCo?

I kind of wonder about how trustworthy his dealer is. My owners manual for my 1734e explicitly stated that mounting a backhoe on the 3pt hitch voids the warranty.
