What's nice about the entire deal is I have to open the bottle of wine and my son (s) do the bird cleaning. He actually does it the same way you would a chicken, only they are much smaller. Seems to take about 1/2 an hour per bird. Doing just the breast is much faster.

For us "deer-only" hunters.....how does one clean a woodcock? or a grouse....or a turkey for that matter?
I killed a pheasant once, years ago, and skinned it like a squirrel.:confused2: It was good.:thumbsup:

He's a German German Wirehaired Pointer. He is going on 2 1/2 years old and is really a great hunting dog. Dinner was fun, I prefer just pulling the breast and grilling them after wrapping in bacon. But, not being the cook I eat what is served. LOL

Every time I hear the name Woodcock I shudder....brings back old memories. Lots of bad memories. My Dad used to take me out hunting with him when I was little..no dog. The hunting and 'Dad' memories were really nice.. the nightmare was when he first gave me a single shot 22 with bird shot in it, then a little single shot 410. Those Woodcock are FAST..!!!!
