If anyone has an Ariens ***/vert splitter, they make a "table" that bolts up to the splitter somehow. As I do not have a log lift on my horizontal splitter, I'd like to create some kind of small table area that I can roll logs onto directly from my loader bucket. I was wondering if the anyone who my have the Ariens table if they could tell me if this table can be retrofitted on any beam splitter. Whatever I make, it needs to be light. I manually move my splitter along the row as I immediately stack the splits to dry.

If I am doing large rounds, I usually put 5 or 6 of them on end next to the splitter and use them as a table and one on end on the other side of the splitter for a seat. When there is nothing left to split, I split my table and then my seat.
;)

hmm…sitting while splitting eh. You must be one of those dark side types that use a vertical splitter.

I built an off loading table and then added a chunk life on my splitter. I works fine, but a bit of a challenge to move around. The extension can be remove and also the hydraulic cylinder and the lift can be taken off for ease of movement, but as of now I just leave it all together and move it carefully and slowly.

Nope. I'm one of those 'my back has been bad since I was a kid' types that tries to take no chances with my spine anymore.

yeah, i move mine often as the stack elongates. Right now I just manually pick it up and reposition it so its done in a matter of seconds. I need the splitter to be agile so a hydraulic lifting table kind of makes that difficult. I'll figure out something but it would have been nice to see how the Ariens spitter table mounts up. That seems to be more of the size I'm looking for. Thanks

So Moss you sit down while using a horizontal splitter? If you do, then I salute your ingenuity. I just had a recent xray of my back. Its so bad its laughable. To think; I thought I escaped the logging industry with hardly an injury. It seems some of my vertebrae are married to each other. I hope their happy.

I think the Gravely is the same splitter and here are some pictures of the staging table mounted to the splitter. My only thought would be to also have a table mounted out where the split wood is dropped just for ease of picking it up to do a second split.:)

Thanks much Wayne. It appears you are correct that the Ariens and the Gravely are one in the same. Strange place to mount a table. I do have a platform after the wedge to re-section rounds but I need something that I can park the loader bucket on while I roll off the round to the beam. Too many close calls of almost mucking up the splitter when approaching the beam too closely. Can't see perfectly from the tractor seat.

Yep. I set the splitter next to my holzhausen then back my trailer up near the splitter. Then I roll off a bunch of logs right next to the splitter, take a nice fat log and set it on end next to the splitter, and sit there and split until I can't reach any more logs from the "chair". Then I roll some more off and start over again. Most of my stuff is 12" or under locust, but I have some that are large. Those are the ones that I roll up a pile of splits onto the logs on end and then onto the splitter. I don't lift anything that appears to be over 30-40 pounds if I don't have to. I roll it.
