Rex 600 Fire Wood Processor - YouTube

Here's a link to for all you vertical wood splitter owners to get ideas for a more effective wood splitter head. This machine is working with a 26 ton ram so this head design may work for alot of vertical splitters if incorporated by some of our talented metal workers on our forum.

Pretty neat idea there, allthough I will throw out a few of my thoughts incase anyone wants to build one similar.

First, I dont like the multiple splitting edges. Sure, they do increase productivity, but they also increase waste in the fprm of little peices and splints that are too small to call "firewood" in my area.

Second think I noticed is the multiple wedges are on the BACK side of the main wedge. I am sure this would increase the waste mentioned above because it is difficult to see to properly place the wood in the best location.

And the last thing I was wondering is: how would it do in some tough hardwoods in my area. Elm? Beech? White oak? Sometimes it is all a 22-27ton splitter can do to push ONE wedge through this stuff.

But it does look like a fast splitter, provided you dont have any forked or crotch peices.

And I wouldnt call it a processor either. It is just a splitter. A "processor" has the ability to turn "logs" into wood. Thus needing a saw or a way to "cut to length"

I built a few wedges similar to a firewooder in TN one time. He made the little weekend cabin bundles. The ones he had made by his design the wedge points all were even. He bent the beam on his splittler. He wanted to change the desgign to just a 4 way. I talked him into letting me build one with my desgn. I made it where only one wedge at a time made contact verticle then horizontal and then the angles. It just had to be off set only an inch.
