Please forgive me if this is a stupid question.

But do they make a gizmo for the TC33DA that would take pine logs and turn them into garden mulch?

If so, how reliable are they, and about what should they cost?

Here are a few links I found in just a few minutes douing a google search...

Mfr: Woods Equipment (Estate series)

They also make a standard and medium duty unit.

Dealer for Wallenstein (mfr)

This may be a little too large for your tractor as your PTO HP is in the low range, but you might find a smaller unit from this mfr?

Also try searching ebay under "3 pt chipper".

Good luck.

I just looked at a Woods model 8000 chipper my brother purchased. It has a 200# flywheel and I believe 4 cutters. It was on sale for $5200. I'm very interested in watching the demo on this one. There is also a small hydraulic motor that converts it into a self feed (optional ). Woods makes some very well designed 3 point attachments.

I had a Valby 140 on my 40 hp 2120. I know they rate them for smaller tractors, but my opinion is it was all my tractor could handle. It chewed the stuff up ok, but I didn't like the pounding it seemed to give the tractor. Definitely get a power feed. Chipping is a lot of work, and it helps. Occasionally the chute would clog up, so maybe the 170 would have worked better(longer chute with blower). Personally, it was too much work, not enough product, and I felt too rough on my tractor. Plus everytime I walked by it, I wished I had put the money towards a backhoe. So that's what I did. My brush now lays on the ground to decompose, or gets burnt. I can get wholesale (and have a tax number) on mulch, so last year I got a load and sold enough to pay for it. That's my opinion, I know a lot of people here have chippers and love them. Oh, it was over $5000. That can buy a lot of chips.

You could try Befco. They make a 6" power feed (belt driven) chipper. It has two knives and the drum weighs 375lbs Works well, I tried Danuser, Woods and some others...it was the best performing in its price class. Cost about $3500
