The other day we saw a couple guys out mowing with some older model tractors ... you know, the ones with the metal seats that put the driver nearly over the 3-point lift.
They each had a mid-mount mower lashed under the tractor with chains and home-made brackets. They also had belts running to the back of the tractor to some sort of directional changing system that allowed the belts to be driven from pulley wheels mounted on the PTO output shaft. There was no way to raise or lower the mowers, they were the height they were unless they got off and repositioned the chains.
I do wish I had pictures.
