Newbie question

We will be out of state (Arkansas) all winter and my BX2200 will be idle, sitting in the pole barn.

What procedure do you recommend to winterize it?

Thanks

1. Depress the clutch pedal and put a block of wood somewhere to keep it depressed so plates can't rust together.
2. Give all the grease fittings a squirt, and relieve the hydraulic pressure on all the implements by setting them on the ground and moving the joystick around.
3. Take the battery out and give it a full charge, leave it in the house or somewhere that won't freeze.
4. Make sure golf clubs and fishing pole are packed in the car.

Pretty old timers instructions aint it?! first BX got no clutch...;)

TO op- as you are in Arizona , I wouldn't be concerned too much about winterizing it. As long you don't have straight water in your rad, greased all fittings, you should be fine.

Well at least I didn't tell him to store the starter crank in a safe place.

How did you deduce he is in Arizona?

Other concerns:

Mice or other wire & seat eating rodents. Little bastards can do a lot of damage in a couple of weeks much less months.

Change the engine oil before storage.

Diesel fuel stabilizer? Not sure if this is an issue or not. Some areas with biodiesel I have read some articles about mold or mildew forming under certain conditions. Don't recall if these conditions where ever totally explained.

All the above (except blocking the clutch, of course) and smear some grease on the loader cylinder arms. Best to retract them as much as you can (with the bucket still on the ground).
Another thing...spray as much linkage as you can reach with Fluid Film or an equivalent preservative.

Personally, I'd use some kind of stabilizer in the fuel tank and top it off.

If you have your tractor's operators manual, I suggest you read that for any more recommended storage procedures.

Roy

Since I have just 10 hours on my newly changed oil, I should be fine with not changing again just for storage???

All good advice, I have prepped ours by taking the key out and walking away; not recommended, but it's still running years later.
