I ain't going to be able to get the RR ties intime before delivery. Would treated 4x4 or 6x6 on each end of the container be strong enough to hold up a 4 ton 40' container? THANKS!!!

A 6x6 or two on each end should be able to hold it, a 4x4 might keep it off the ground if it is sitting on a concrete slab but I wouldn't bet on it anywhere else

6x6 would be my choice. But more important how are you going to stabilize
the box and how high off the ground would have to factor in.

I would think either would do, so long as they don't sink. Takes a heck of a lot to crush those things. Many more tons than those containers are. They use 4x4 blocks at work to store crane parts off the ground.
