will not idle down

I was riding my tractor and suddenly the engine began running at wide open. the throttle arm would not work. I had to shut off fuel to stop it. what could cause this? and how do I repair it?

Check the linkages for the throttle. May have come loose and not controlling the fuel flow.

Or the fuel rod in the injection pump may be stuck.
