I have a TYM T474 with tar river tiller, and looking at an auger. I heard that a quick hitch doesn't work with ease with both. Anyone have a different optinon?

The boom of the Auger (3 point hitch post hole digger) takes place of the top link. It hooks into the location of the top link on the tractor...

So a quick hitch, which uses the top link, would have to be removed.... to install the Auger.

something like pto link & QH for the tiller

What about just getting a low flow SSQA hydraulic front mount auger? It'll be a million times more pleasant to use anyway.

I built a stand to store my PHD on, and a separate stand for the augers.

Makes it a very easy, one person operation to remove and install.

You may wish to investigate Pat's Quick Hitch. It only provides quick connection to the three point arms. You use your regular top link with it.

Without quick hitch. I find it easier to disassemble the auger and install it boom first, lift arms second, auger 3rd, PTO last.

From my dealer as I'm thinking off quick hitch is good idea for Tiller, but then have to take it off in order to use Auger/PHD. The quick hitch he tells is a Category 1 for my tractor. Does this sound about right based on your experiences? Sounds like as @i7win7 mentioned a PHD stand could be good option.

There really is not much to
install the quick hitch on to your tractor (we would not charge you to
do that). The reason you will not be able to use the quick hitch with
the post hole digger is that most PHD's hook directly to the 3rd link
bracket on the tractor eliminating the adjustable 3rd link arm on the
tractor. The 3rd link arm is the top turnbuckle that you use to hook up
the tiller. This arm is also used with a quick hitch. I still think that
the quick hitch would make it easier to hook up the tiller. Even if you
would have to remove the quick hitch to hook up the PHD. The PHD is also
a pain to hook up. You may need two people for that job."
