Will a LA301 loader fit on a 7100HST

The title says it all. I have a 7100HST that sadly does not have a loader. I have run across someone selling a LA301 loader and was wondering if that would fit my tractor.

It seems that the LA301 is much newer than the B7100 so it wasn't made to fit. It will fit, but the better question is how much time and money it will require to make fit. My personal opinion is you would be better off to sell this tractor and buy one with a loader already on it and ideally has power steering.

I owned a B7100HST with factory installed loader, a 1630 I believe. It was one of the early models purchased in 1981. It required an external front mounted hyd pump. The LA301 FEL was originally designed to fit the newer B1700 and may have been powered by the tractor. Unless you can find a way to tap the tractor hydraulics on the 7100, you'll need the external pump.

The FEL on the 7100HST I owned would only lift around 400 lbs. I used it mostly as a motorized wheelbarrow. Without power steering, the tractor was a bear to maneuver around with a fully loaded bucket. I agree with 4570Man, you're probably better off spending the money on a newer machine.

Don't sell the B7100 HST short on loader potential. Match it to the appropriate work and it does well. Steering is harder but doable. Hydraulics can come from the tractor pump.

I put 3000 hours on one with mostly loader work involved.

It would all depend on the work that is planned for it.

My B7100 is a real workhorse. I like having it around, but loader work isn't it's cup of tea.

Please don't misunderstand me. I owned my B7100HST from 1982 to 2003 when I traded it for my first L. It was a great little tractor and served me well for 21 years. It had 2500+ hours on it and I got most of what I paid for it in trade in value! The lack of power steering was one of the few complaints I had with the machine. As you say, it all depends on what work you put it to.

It's interesting that you say the FEL can be tractor powered. The dealer delivered mine with factory installed FEL and BH which were powered by separate external pumps. The FEL pump was mounted to the front crankshaft and the BH had a PTO powered pump. The manual mentioned a hydraulic block mounted to the transmission case. When I asked the dealer why they didn't use it, I was told there were no attachment kits available and they didn't know when or if they would be. I suppose it could have been a line of BS on his part.

Was your machine post 1990 when the model was reintroduced to the US market? Perhaps there were changes made over the early 1980's version.

About 1995. It had the hydraulic block. No external pumps. Factory fit loader.

External pumps may not be a bad thing as the main pump is not all that big.

Some of the old reciprocating ball car steering units would have been an easy install with the extra pump.
