Has anyone ever set the front tires on a 4720 wider than stock? I feel the front tires if were wider would give a studier ride....If anyone has any input or pics of their setup wider please post and advise.

Thanks!

I was concerned about stability on steep hills when I got my new 4320 (same frame as 4720). The dealer installed the front and rear wheels on widest setting and loaded all four tires with Rimguard. Have to agree that the tractor stability is no longer a concern. Traction is awesome also.

My dealer said he could reverse the front tires which would widen them a few inches, is that what you did? So the air plug instead of being on the outside, is on the inside....I heard some people using spacers as well.....So confused:confused:

Same here. I told my dealer I had to cut the ditch banks along the edge of my property and he said I'd have no problem with stability or traction with the wheels set wide and loaded.

Can't say on a 4720, but I just flipped the agri tires around on my 790, front and back. The front tires just got flipped around and swapped L - R, but the swapping the rears required me to remove the wheel from the hub, which was pretty easy and straightforward. 'Course, it helped to have a forklift and a 3/4" impact.

The upside has been huge---drastic improvement in sideways stability. Whatever inconvenience caused by the air fitting being on the inside is minor---I mean, how often do you need to change/check your air pressure anyway?

I thought my ditch-digging with a BB or rear blade would be compromised but I haven't really noticed a huge difference. I can still dig ditches just fine. The overlap on my finish mower has changed a little but that hasn't affected anything, really. Also, the front tires are still narrower than the FEL
so I can still drive all the way into a pile as well as cover my tracks on a back-drag (though I think the rear tires are now slightly wider than the bucket).

One thing I am more careful about now---turning in 4WD. I'm much more conscious of taking it out of 4WD in good traction conditions, especially in a turn. I think the wider stance may put more strain on the diffs.

Yes, all valve stems are on the inside. Also, I have R4 tires. R1 tires/rims probably have more options but not sure (refer to owner's manual).
