Looking for a bigger finish mower. Current 6 foot Woods PRD is a great mower but would like to get an 8 footer. Dealer 80 miles away has a 8 foot RDTH Bush Hog used one time. It is a pull type. Asking $3500. Agri Supply has the Caroni for $2200 plus shipping. Also looking at the Woodmax Flail but it's over $3300. Not convinced about the long term costs associated with the flail. Any input would be appreciated.

If you want a finish cut flail mower you will need to purchase a flail mower with side slicer knives not scoop knives.

In order to get a rough finish cut with a scoop knive type flail mower you need to mow at right angles to overlap the cut.

You can purchase a Caroni 2 row flail mower which I believe is the TM1900 model that will clear brush and give you a near finish cut when mowing.

I have a 72" Caroni I bought for my 32hp Kubota. It's simple, built well, and a great price. Time will tell how I like it, but so far I have nothing but good things about it, and it cuts really nice.
Oh the grease fittings for the spindles have extensions to the deck so you don't need to remove the cover, nice simple feature.

I have a C-70 befco, 9 ft -2 inch cut, 3 point but it would be outside your budget. Delivers a nice cut, has 6 swinging blades, on 3 spindles, so also ideal for pasture work. It is also rather heavy. I see no reason why this mower would have an issue performing 30 years w/ maintenance.
