I would believe that it is the weight of the tractor, not the physical size that is the determining factor. A trencher can toss a small light weigh tractor around and the last thing that Kubota wants is to have a BX damaged by the use of a implement that has the amount of force that a trencher does. With the small bucket on the BX, it will take a little longer, but you can still dig a long trench. Just depends on what you want to be putting in the trench. I wouldn't use a BX for putting in a lawn sprinkler system if I could rent a trencher. The right tool for the job is always the fastest and least expensive in the end. Dusty
