I approached 2 massey dealerships over 2 weeks ago to purchase a 5400 series tractor. I still have not recieved a quote from either of them.
How long should it take? Sure hope their service department isn't as slow.
Thanks Mike

I got my quote on the day of my visit. It was a smaller model but still, I don't see what could take so long. They must have forgotten you.

I would call them! (or check somewhere else)

Good luck,
Max

When you say approached, were you there in person, did you call, or send them an e-mail?

If you were there in person, I would think they could/should provide a quote during your visit. If it was a call or worse, and e-mail, it may have been accidentally overlooked.

If the dealer(s) has (have) a good reputation, I'd give them a call and talk directly with a salesperson. If that doesn't get immediate results, I'd look elsewhere.

Tractors aren't rare, but good dealers seem to be.

Good luck,
Jay

Little odd,for most dealers I know sameday than give you time to think if you wish to purchase..maybe there's another also interested in the tractor your looking at,or do you have something towards trade in which dealers yet to set date w/you to check out?

If you were sitting in the MF store, speaking with a live person, you should have had a computer generated quote in your hand when you left. If they are not interested in your business before the sale, they won't even remember your name after they have your money.

Ain't that the truth. Truth too about if you are in the store, you should have numbers in your hand before you leave. If the dealers you are looking at have good reputationss, I'd say go see them one more time.

As for getting quotes from my local MF dealer, I know for a fact he's a busy guy. I can tell by the hour stamped on the email he sends. Poor guy works long hours, but he's darn successful too as far as I can tell. I went into his store about a month ago and I'm still bugging him for quotes. It takes him almost a week to get back to me but I'm in no hurry.

He did get a quote to me this morning for a 1635L with factory cab and I'm almost tempted to take it but then I threw it back to him, asking for a quote on a 1643. This time he told me I'll have to wait since these tractors are not available until mid-October. He said something about he can't get pricing right now due to the dollar. MF has to wait until the time the tractor is available to make up its pricing, all based on the dollar exchange at that time. Go figure. Its a good thing car dealerships aren't set up like that. Although he did say he would try to see if he can get MF to commit to a firm price to make the sale.

So sometimes its not specifically the dealer's fault. Having said that, a follow up call to bring the customer up to speed would be appreciated.

I recieved my quote today $ 59, 200 plus taxes for the 5445 with no FEL.
No I was not there in person since the dealer is 70 miles away.
I called both dealers a few times and had email correspondence with them on options.
The other dealer said today by email " ok I will get back to you" when I asked about tire options.
Sure hope there service department isn't so hohum.

neither dealers have the tractors in stock with the options I want.

Mine's not in stock either. I'd rather wait and get what I want. I got my quote back last night. Since he couldn't secure a Canadian dollar price for the tractor right now, I asked him to secure a US dollar price for the tractor and snowblower, the rest of the purchase will be in Canadian dollars. We finally agreed on a US dollar purchase for MF1643 with cab and front mount snow blower. The rest of the attachments, FEL, BH, rear blade and pallet forks will be Canadian dollars. I have to do is put down 10% deposit on the US purchase. Everything will be delivered some time in November. Which is good...give me some breathing space to save some money :D
