Needed to replace the BMW hood emblem on my bimmer. Okay no problem. Looked on line, ordered a part from www.partsgeek.com. Watched a Youtube vid on process... all set. The emblem arrived today, Aug 12th.

Easy fix... just use a wedge and protect the surface and pry around it and it should pop off. I even had a handy hard plastic wedge, JNT411B6. I do recommend a few of these non marring wedges for your shop.

and carefully worked around the old emblem base that had lost it's badge and of course... one of the pins breaks off! :smiley_aafz:

No biggie, grab my trusty Knipex pliers and pull on the little bit of pin left exposed... nope! That mushes off. :smiley_aafz:

Okay, get the drill and use the other hole as a gage and drill out the plastic pin. Yeay... success! :dance1:

Go to pop in the beautiful new one... nope! Wrong size... WTH! Go around and look at the trunk emblem. Yep. :mur:

Now online to order the right one and get an RMA for the other so I can return on my dime. Stay tuned for the completed job started Aug 7th.

Well that sucks but on the bright side,if you ever have a stuck drain plug you'll have your trusty Knipex pliers standing by.

BTW I did think of Kando and thought the Knipex was definitely the ticket here!

If you can afford a B.M.Trouble-U then you can afford to let the dealership fix it for you. Better yet just buy a new car.

Why play rich boy and then complain about how hard it is to fix your status symbol when you cant really afford it?

Have them install a pair of those over priced windsheild wipers everyone talks about, while it's there.

Sounds like just about every five minute job I try and do lately.

Hey I wasn't complaining about my BMW... I was really just starting a thread about quick fixes that don't go so quick. This was just one example. Maybe you have one? As far as your comment about 'playin rich boy, status symbol, and not taking it to the dealer'... you are far off, buddy.
