My wife and I enjoy Brussels sprouts but have noticed after cooking some have a spicy horse radish taste. Why is this? Is there a way to know picking them out at the store?

OMG! Brussel Sprouts are the one and only vegtable I cannot eat if my life depended upon it. Sorry but just can't do it! There are vegatables I prefer cooked and those I prefer raw. But Brussel Sprouts are not in the ballpark.

Come on Mo...follow me here...You don't use canned brussel Sprouts....use either fresh or frozen...cut them in half ( if frozen ..thaw them out ) season them with salt, pepper and granulated garlic..fry some bacon pieces in a skillet, add some butter and saute those sprouts...add some sliced onions...and see if you don't change your mind...so many times food is just poorly prepared...If someone opens a can of brussel Sprouts and heats it and eats it...YUK !
Bacon makes ANY vegetable better!![]()
What's really good is to fry up a few strips of bacon, add in some onion, maybe a bit of butter and sautee it all for a bit.
Next, cut a funnel shape into the top of a cabbage, cutting out the heart. Dump the mixture from above into that cutout, and smoke it for a few hours in the smoker. YUMM!!
(I thought this was related since cabbage and brussells sprouts are similar)
