About to buy either an x530 or x540. Why should I buy a powered sleeve hitch? What will it do for me?

The problem I would have with a sleeve hitch besides being too light duty is you would have to depend on your Deere dealer for all implements. At a high price imo. If you think you need a rear hitch go with an x700 series machine. If you wan't to mow on semi rough terrain go with the x500 series.

Being a native of Louisiana my guess is an x310 and up would work well enough as most of the state is pretty flat. That said an x530 or x540 should last you through two decks easily.

Many brands of garden tractors used the sleeve hitch back in the 60's and 70's. One of the most popular implement manufacturers, which is still in business, is Brinley & Hardy, who still produce sleeve hitch implements. It's also possible to find used garden tractor implements for a sleeve hitch.
