why after yrs of use, hyd level high & leaking

happy with the mahindra but surprised to see hyd oil leaking out shifter boot.. not surprised to find a leak, surprised to see the hyd level high, never added any so is there a way for the level to rise from another fluid?

Would it be possible that rainwater is getting into the sump thru the same shifter boot?

excellent deduction, thanks ..but stored in a small barn (paid a fortune for this red rascal)
I think the level has always been high, when the dealer installed the loader they must have overfilled..
maybe it took 5yrs for the neoprene boot to give up?

What model Mahindra? Has it been 5 years since you checked the level or changed the fluid?

Generally when we hear of this problem it is water like koua mentioned and only on older tractors with a shifter boot that is shot and then only on the type of transmissions for which a leaky boot is up on top and can collect rainwater. Seems unlikely on a newer model that is stored indoors. If you have that much water your hydraulic fluid will be milky.

I check engine oil & water each use but sadly the hyd fluid has not been checked or changed. I always look under her (concrete floor) and if no leaks I assume the fluid level is good..
Will drain fluid and change filter today, with proper level the small hole in boot will not be a problem.

oh and.... 2615 mahindra manual tranny...with front loader and "bush hog" rough mower
