I'm looking for a rear blade / back blade, 3 pth attachment.
Mostly for moving snow, but envision some dirt work, ditching. /I think it needs to be 7 ft min. Should it be bigger seeing how my tires are set out as wide as possible and if you put any angle on the blade the "effective width" gets narrower.
I want it to be what I think they call a 6 way. (Blade rotates (like if you were making a ditch) and spins/angles, and the "arm" rotates/offsets so that edge of blade sticks out beyond edge of tractor.
I have a ~75 hp tractor.
Woods (brand) looks heavy duty but pricey. Are Everything Attachment/King Cutter heavy duty enough? Anybody use a Frontier?

Looking forward to hearing your experience.

I have a Land Pride and it has done well for 12 years. I'm on my second cutting edge - they are reversible so you get double the life from one. I use it for grading about 1.8 miles of dirt road and it does some snow clean up in the winter. I haven't tried other brands, but I would go with Land Pride again.

While ETA makes a very good blade for the money, none of them in my opinion are heavy enough to be used behind your tractor. You really need an 8' blade and from there, again IMO it should be at a minimum in the 700-800lb range. You can get by with less, but if you really want it to work well for you in most all conditions, it really needs to be in that weight range or heavier. NONE of these blades are cheap if bought new. I highly recommend that you get at a minimum of hydraulic angle, or at least the capability of hydraulic angle and the skid shoes.

I am a huge fan of the Land Pride heavy blades, but there are others that are basically the same. Frontier has a couple that would work well for you. You are looking in the $2500-$3000 area.

Rhino
Bush hog
Dirt Dog

There are many others also. Best find what is carried in your area and go from there. Again most of these that are in this category are of very close quality and price.

Worth every cent in my opinion. Get the hydraulics later if need be.

Good luck. ;)

I have EA's 72" 6 way rear blade on y L3800. I am very happy with it in all aspects. Curve of the blade, Height of blade and ease of changing angles. Haven't found a lot of use for the off set angle. I found that you cannot set the offset and angle the blade to scrape snow away from the tractor. You can go from setting the blade to either side and then having the blade from straight to pulling snow to you. :2cents: Still very glad I have it as something will come up where I will need the offset ability. I see a lot of thought has gone into the construction and will probably be one of those implements being used 100 years from now. :D

I have found the angle of attack is very important. My neighbor bought the KK and he cannot get his top-link to adjust the angle of attack right. For snow I don't want it overly aggressive but certainly don't want it sloped back. ;)

Suggest the blade width needs to cover outside width of your rear tires with blade at, or near, near 45 degrees angle.

If you buy new and are very clear on which functions you want to be hydraulically controlled;

Blade angle
Blade tilt
Blade off set

Order blade with the ratchet adjusters only on the functions you will not control hydraulically then, contact Brian at Fit-Rit (Mountainviewranch above). He will build higher quality cylinders than you will get from blade manufacturer and probably save you some money. You will be wasting money to get the ratchet adjusters on functions you want to add cylinders to. Probably $50-$75 per ratchet. Maybe more. Some dealers will ***** about this but, don't let them push you around. This is not an uncommon request.

I like the Land Pride and Woods blades. Just started looking for a rear blade for new LS XR4046HC.

Good luck!

The perfect blade for your tractor IMO. Or equivalent. Don't forget to get the skid shoes, they truly do make a big difference. ;)

LandPride for me seven foot with my 5240 with hydrolyic cylinder for angle adjustment

The best blade is the heaviest blade and while 7 ft is fine, 8 ft would probably work better for you. Buying new is fine but there are lots of used blades at auctions from a variety of makers that are as good and often better than new ones and at 1/4 or so of the new price. Used blades sell hard. A lot of blades don't get used very much and are often just surface rusty with no meaningful wear.

I have yet to see a $4000 blade for $1000. As far as being available used, I think that has a LOT to do with where you live and definitely should be looked into. All the used blades in my area are $700-$1000 units and they are asking $300-$500 for them and that's when they come up which isn't really all that often.

If the OP purchases a $1000 new cost rear blade, I believe that he will end up very sorry that he did so.

Just my :2cents:
