At some point I need to replace my front tires due to a gash in one of them. They are 380/85R24 R1W tires.
I'm looking for feedback on the various manufactures. My current tires are Mitas and they came with the tractor from the Deere factory in Germany. I don't have any complaints with them, but with only 365 hrs it's hard to really judge wear.
My take on others is:
Goodyear: My smaller tractor originally came with Goodyears and they held up pretty well, but I honestly don't have a lot to compare to. I also hear a bunch of people dumping on Goodyear.
BKT: I replaced those Goodyears with BKT tires, but I'm not real impressed. I went with BKT because they offered an 8 ply front tire vs 6 plys for everyone else. 6 ply tires are overloaded with a full loader bucket of heavy material, so 8 ply was very appealing. They handle the load well, but are wearing vary fast. My take is that I got what I paid for....
Michellin: Well regarded, but no direct experience. For the 380/85R24, they are about double the price of others. Is that worth it?
Trelleborg: Also well regarded from what I can tell. Mid priced, and a bit harder to get in the US.
Firestone: I generally hear good things, but that's all I know.
Titan: They are part of Goodyear now, I believe. Are they any good, or do they get lumped in with goodyear by the haters? Titan does offer a 146 load index vs the 131 that all others offer. But I have had very full loads of crushed stone and although the Mitas tires smoosh down a bunch, they seem fine.
So, who's good and who's bad?
