Which X-series (if any)?

I have the X485, that engine is butter smooth- I love it- never run out of traction with the turf- tires- actually have only used the diff lock a couple times- I mow about 2 acres, I have a ditch line down the side of the property, and one in the parkway, I guess fourwheel drive would be nice if I wanted to destroy the grass and mow mud but unless you have REALLY BIG hills, or massive snow moving needs- four wheel drive is not needed- kinda like all the soccer moms around me who drive Hummer H2's-

i thought i would throw this question in here... the difference between the X485 and X475 is the seat and a bigger engine but more importantly the EFI. does EFI really warrant the extra cost? is it more reliable? in the dead of winter? how much fuel is saved... i heard the X495 can go 8 hours before a refill... how about the X485 and X475?

Yes, I believe FI warrants the extra costs. My fuel costs are reduced by 20-40% as well as reduced pollution and much less wasted fuel that ends up in the oil. Maintenance is <10% over a carburated engine.

I can't tell you the number of times I have been visited by the 'carb gods' with plugged idle and main circuits due to bad gas.

By the way, after buying and using my X485, I took a old, discarded carb from one of my tractors, placed in in the driveway, and drove over it a few times. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have the 585 and have had no problems starting in the cold. Of course it doesn't get too cold here in Tennessee. Just set the throttle to 1/4-1/2 and turn the key.

awlchu, what kind of engine did you have whereas you didnt like the carb? does anyone have issues with the X475?

The carbs were fine until they needed service. Very sensitive to dirty fuel,

I have a x495 and love it! My biggest factor was turning radius, nothing compares! I looked at the 2210, Kubota BX, and New Holland. My lawn has lots of trees and mulch beds. The diesel is great, pushes snow with no problem, and I have an OX trailer which I fill with wood in the winter and it pulls it with ease.
