Tractor
BX22TLB
I have 3 acres with my house. The front lawn is hilly and about 150x150. Below that I have a hilly slope going to the lake that is 200x100 that I would like to remove some rock and fill with dirt extending my lawn. Behind the house I have woods that I would like to make a ATV trail for the Grandkid's. My driveway is gravel and 300 ft long and gets ruts when we have heavy rains. I own 2 acres separate that is 1/2 treed and 1/2 very rough grass/weeds that I will eventually clear for my Son's house. A mile away I have 4 RV sites that are about 100x75 that have gravel pads and grass/weeds around them that I cut now with a weedwhacker because the ground is uneven except for the pads. I want a tractor to maintain the lots/lawn/driveway/clear trails/remove rocks. I looked at the BX22 and L2600. After reading numerous posts on this site I am considering a b2410 or b2710. I also have a 1/2 mile dirt road that goes to the boat dock that has many ruts and needs to be maintained .I really liked the BX22 but don't want to buy too small.
I am looking forward to your response and ideas. Thank you.

John,

What to buy is what you can afford, no matter how small or big. Remember that time is money, and the converse is true. If you cannot afford it, regardless of what anybody says it is not for you. People will advise one way or the other most of the time without regards to the cost.

Good luck in your search and purchase.

I haven't set a budget on the tractor. I was hoping that with the numerous things I want to do I would get an idea of what size tractor I need. Thanks for your help

I'd say your in the ballpark with the 2410/2710 B series. Another good alternative would be New Hollands TC21D or their new TC24D. As well as their new TC30. Which I beleive is the only economy based model that can be had with a hydro trans right now.

john: seems like u want to use the tractor for more than cutting grass. i would tell u to go to the 2710 or the 2410.don't over tractor yourself tho. u can rent one big enough to do the onetime stuff, get one that is better suited for your normal everyday work. u will know best in that regard.

John,

A lot depends on the size of trees and esp. rocks that you plan to move. The BX22 while capable, won't handle a 1000 Lb rock too well or a 12" stump without some work (and time)

I think the size and overall application the BX22 would be a good choice for trails, manuervability in tight spaces etc, and on a slope it's center of gravity is fairly low.

The 2710 and 2410 are similar but have a higher lift capacity but no BH, which is by my estimation one of the handiest tools to have.

Good Luck and happy hunting,

Carl

John,

I have the construction working cousin of the B7500 the B21TLB and it does everything well I need except for the big stuff - 2' stumps and 3' rocks (but I manage with patience) to move these too.

The B7500 is a great unit and will work hard for you.

Carl
