which tractor when weight limited by tow vehicle??

Looking to upgrade to a larger tractor with FEL to use for maintaining fire breaks, roads and food plots on 160 acres which is 60 miles from home. My decision would be easier if I wasn't limited by the towing capacity of my tow vehicle (5000#). I figure the trailer weighs at least 1500, the brush hog at least 500, so that leaves me with 3000 for the tractor and I'd really like to stay at no more than 80-85% of towing capacity, so I'm looking at 2250 max for the weight of the tractor. Obviously, I want the "most" tractor I can get that fits within those constraints. I also understand that power that can't be put to the ground is wasted. I do not want to buy a different tow vehicle and a new tractor!!!

I'm currently looking at the Kubota B3300 which, according to Kubota, weighs around 1900 without the FEL, but would appreciate any other suggestions in the 30 horsepower class that fit within the weight limit.

Did you miss the part where I said I did not want to buy a different tow vehicle and a new tractor??:thumbsup:

I will move the tractor maybe 6 times a year at the very most, probably only 3-4 times.......so, buying a different tow vehicle to move the tractor 3-6 times a year just does not make sense.

I don't know if you will like it, but I have the mahindra Max28XL HST. It's at least worth considering if u have a dealer within a reasonable distance. It's a real powerhouse in a smallish package.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do have a local Mahindra dealer and visited him this week. He showed me the 3016 (too heavy) but didn't mention the Max28XL, probably didn't have one in stock?? I was impressed by the 5 year warranty on the Mahindra. I'll check out the Max28XL before I buy.

What kind of a tow vehicle do you have ? What are it's weight limits ? Are you using a weight dist. hitch ? What is the gross limit for your trailer ?
If you don't have a weight dist. hitch your towing limits are lower than with a weight dist. hitch.
Lets say you have a tow vehicle has a towing capasity of 500 lbs. with out the hitch, and with a weight dist. hitch you can bump thea up to around 7500LBS.
( guy's this is just a guessamate)
and with the weight you want to tow, youe state may require you to be using the hitch anyway.

And since I see your from Oklahoma like myself, It is the law.

Guys......this thread and my question are NOT about the tow vehicle , it's about deciding which tractors fit within the confines of the criteria listed in the first post.

I'm looking for suggestions on the tractor that best fits my needs.......I want the most tractor for my money that fits the parameters listed above......basically, weighs no more than 2250 pounds and in the 30 horsepower class.

Is that too much to ask??:laughing:

Can't remember the name of the tractor but it's lightweight high HP. The frame is made from unobtainium or something like that. Not sure where its made though. I saw it on the internet so I know its real. Anyone else out there see it?
