which loader for L4240

Hi all,

I bought a new L4240 Grand L-series tractor last year (with cab) and am looking to add a loader to it. What's confusing me is that the UK brochure says that the 4240 needs to have the LA714 loader NOT the LA854. The LA714 is a lot less capable loader for almost exactly the same price as the LA854. Reading other threads, it seems that everyone on this forum seems to have the LA854 with the 4240, so am confused. I thought that the frame was exactly the same on all the xx40 grand L models? Is the 4240 different? According to the specification sheet, the implement hydraulic pump on the 4240 is more powerful than on the models with more HP, so it can't be a flow issue.

Anyways, I'm waiting on a call back from the Kubota dealer (which from experience will be several days time or not at all) and in the mean time wanted to ask the brain trust here whether you know why the lower spec loader is matched to just the 4240?

I have a L4240 HSTC with the 854 loader;I didn't know they offered any other.I would have your dealer make a call(or you) to Kubota Corporate to clarify.The 854 is very capable and a good fit for the 4240.

I check TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors ,they only list the 854 loader for the L4240.

The frames are different but I think the loader frames are adjustable. I also have the 854 loader on my 4240. I think you might be running into a problem because of where you live. I know Canada and the US have slightly different options (and Kubota loves to keep people in the dark when it comes to different countries). Can you check to see what the 4740 gets for a loader? I know in the US the 3940 got the smaller loader (724 I think) however I know people who got one with the 854.

The LA714 seems to be a loader offered by Kubota in certain countries. It is specified for the L4600's sold in Australia, for example, and also appears to be a loader option in the UK. I recall some discussions several years ago concerning the unavailability of the standard, U.S.-manufactured Kubota loaders in Australia due to regulatory constraints. I'm speculating here, but perhaps the same, or similar, regulatory limitations exist within EU countries. If so, one might suppose such rules apply to all makes of tractors and not just Kubota. I could only suggest there might be another dealer that would be more helpful and knowledgeable if your local Kubota outfit isn't responsive.

When I bought my L3940, I thought the L4240 took the LA854, not the LA724 (not 714). I almost went to the 42 for the loader, kind of wish I had.

My L4060 has a L805 on it. The LA1055 is only speced for the grands above the L4760. Which sucks as the only difference in any grands except for the L3560 is tires & engine. They only let the big loader go on the big HP machines for marketing reasons as far as I can tell.

If it weren't for warranty I'd have gotten the dealer to out on the LA1055 on my machine I think.

I don't recall if the L3560 can take the LA805 loader, but you can put the small LA555 on all the machines, although I'm not sure why you would. It might save a few bucks, but not much & you loose so much capacity.

My spec book says LA854 starts with L4240.

Thanks all. Still waiting for the Kubota dealer to call back! I'm pretty sure the answer when I finally get a call back will be "Kubota says an LA714, so that's all we offer".

Hmmm... well I've been trying to use "man math" to justify a small articulated loader like an Avant 520, maybe it's time to buy something that's NOT orange for a change!

Yes as I have the LA805 on my l3560. Had that not been the case, I would've had no choice but to buy the 4060. I'm glad Kubota offer these options.
