Which JD model

Hi all. Shopping for tractors over the weekend, which is really work! Anyway, there are 2 brands in my area, Deere and Kubota. Which JD model compares to Kubota 4400?

Probably the close match would be a 4120 in John Deere. 43HP compared to 45HP in the Kubota L4400.

Although, on Kubota's site when you click on the link to compare to competitors, they're comparing the L4400 to a JD 990...which makes me wonder if the L440 is a smaller framed tractor than the JD 4120? Either that or they're comparing apples to oranges.

If the L4400 is indeed a smaller framed tractor compared to JD's 4x20 series, then maybe the 3x20 series is more of a closer match. Specifically the 3720

The Deere dealer that I went to also used the 990 and 5105, although one has less horsepower, and one has more.

Weird. When you click on compare on JD's 4120 site, it compares it to a Kubota L4330 which I guess isn't made anymore...but it's around the size of the L4400 I think. So I guess the 4120 would be a good comparison.

I believe the L4400 is something of a 'stripper' aka 'value' model. The Grand 30 series have more bells and whistles. In that respect - the JD 990 and 5105 are good matches in spirit. The 4000-Twenty models, while they may be similar in size and hp to the 4400 - are probably more plush - and have prices to go with it. If you don't need or at least want the fancier features and electronics - the JD 990 and 5105 are rock solid tractors.
