Lincoln? Miller? Others? Which do you have? Currently have a Lincoln Ranger 10000 gas and would like to get a diesel because I always have several hundred gallons of diesel fuel.

What is it you need out of a engine drive? Do you need CV? Or just SMAW?
I think you'll find more options with Lincoln.
I'm into gas drives now, but here is the last diesel I had.

As you are already aware of the great arc your Ranger has, why not stick with it? Not sure about these Kubota engines, but in the Vantage people always say buy the Perkins over the Kubota.

I was leaning towards diesel since I normally have a few hundred gallons on hand for farm use. I don't nromally store much gasoline because I don't want it go bad.

From a technical standpoint, the Kubota is a little more "refined" engine and usually more efficient, but it has it's own weaknesses, which is primarily just that, weak. imho. The ones you find at auction with kubotas are typically are blown, or run hot...and are sold for 200.00-500.00. But the engine is no better than the service it receives. Come to think of it, the only ones I have seen recently at auctions are kubotas....That could be good or bad depending upon how you look at it.

If it were the "newer" perkins, I cannot say. But the older generation of perkins were as rock solid as they come. I'd think I'd still lean toward the perkins though.

Has the EPA screwed up the diesel welders' performance like the trucks and tractors?

EPA has gotten their grimy fingers into every internal combustion engine on the market.

They are inflating the cost of doing business at every turn, and killing our economy. Sadly, in an effort to make engines greener, they are only making them inefficient, and more unreliable. Looks to me a dirty running engine that uses half as much fuel to the job, would be "cleaner" than one that uses twice as much fuel to do the same job.
